About Us
Munna Lal & Jai Narayan Khemka Girls College is a prestigious women's college in Saharanpur, U.P. Established in the year 1966, the college has a rich legacy of empowering women through higher education. The credit is attributed to Seth Sh. Badri Prasad Bajoria (Star Paper Mill, Saharanpur) for his vision and passion for the education of women and to Seth Sh. Munna Lal for his generosity. Consequently, the college was further developed to continue the legacy in the memory of Sh. Jai Narayan Khemka. The institution had a humble beginning with a small yet dedicated team of four teachers and 96 students under the able leadership of Ms. A. Kamala, the first Principal, making it a mainstay for girls education at Saharanpur for the days to come.
The college is affiliated to Maa Shakumbhari University, Punwarka, Saharanpur, U.P. since 2021. Prior to that the college was affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, U.P. The college undergoes NAAC accreditation at regular intervals to ensure quality education. The institute offers undergraduate programs in thirteen subjects and postgraduate and doctoral programs in nine subjects focusing on holistic development, skill enhancement, and multidisciplinary striving for academic excellence with a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members and staff.
The campus is equipped with several facilities including a rich library, laboratories, auditorium, a canteen and a gym. NSS, Rangers, Cultural Club, Career Counselling Cell, Institutional Innovation Council etc. contribute to the all-round development of students. The institution has come a long way since its inception continuously empowering women through quality education.
Vision
The institute envisions holistic personality development by stimulating the minds of the students who can contribute to nation-building through individual enhancement as well as for fostering and nurturing the traditional values of Bharatiya culture. The institute intents to provide transformative learning environment for women empowerment through education that imbibes in them confidence, ethical values so that they could become self-reliant, resilient and leaders in their respective fields of interest.
Mission
The mission of institute is to provide a value-based higher education to the women and girls of Saharanpur. It is the only women institution of higher education in the district, well known for the quality education and cultural activities. The institution was founded on the idea that independent, intelligent women who are familiar with Indian culture could contribute significantly to the development of family, society, and the country at large.
The goal of the college is to enhance the overall growth of its students by taking specific actions to fulfil the vision. The institute further develops itself according to the new age, as in the case of latest education policy, The New Education Policy 2020. The institution endeavours to provide comprehensive education and instil pursuit of knowledge through courses of arts, humanities and social sciences, languages and literature, and commerce faculties and several co-curricular activities as well. There was also addition of several courses such as BCA, BBA, and M.Com. which signifies the continuous advancement made by the institute.
The college continues to effectively attain the vision by delivering education to the doorsteps of many women and girls. The institution’s unique qualities in meeting the requirements of female students and eventually, of society as a whole are the mission statements as well. The college aspires to uphold both a historic tradition and a prosperous future. With ultimate aim of fostering awareness of family and society, the college seeks to achieve excellent standards in higher education while exploring the untapped potential of the students.
